Vaco Baissac was born in 1940 in Mauritius. In 1958, he exhibits for the first time in Mauritius and two years later in Reunion Island. Before flying for his studies in Paris and Brussels in 1964, he spends three years working with Serge Constantin and Siegfried Sammer. Since then, he has participated in various exhibitions worldwide, from Switzerland to Paris, Italy and Hong Kong. For twenty years, he goes on a quest of discovery on the African continent and comes back to Mauritius with a lot to share. He is known to all on the local scene and continues to paint with the same vivacity, inspired by the colours of his native country.
